May 1999. Arrived in Shenzhen with just 50,000 RMB. Within one month, secured a full container of promotional disposable lighters — a 300,000 RMB deal built on nothing but credit and trust — and exported it to Korea. That single container became the first step of a 25-year trade career spanning six continents.

Two years before the world felt the full impact, identified the structural risks of US-China trade tensions under the first Trump administration. Began formulating an exit strategy while competitors were still expanding their China operations.

On January 28th, upon hearing of the Wuhan lockdown, made the instant decision to pivot. Within 24 hours, liquidated 20 years of assets in China — office, staff, real estate — and relocated his family to South Korea. A decisive action that preserved capital and opened new doors.

Exported 70,000 to China, sold 130,000 domestically, then pivoted to selling 40+ filter equipment units (approx. $500K each) generating KRW 12 billion in revenue with just 4 people.
